The USAID IFACS METT training in Papua was held on the 2 to 3 December 2015 in Jayapura. The event was attended by staff BBKSDA – Papua , Lorentz National Park Authority , National Park Office Wasur , USAID staff – LESTARI , universities , NGOs and indigenous representatives. This was made possbile through the cooperation between the USAID – LESTARI and the Center for Conservation of Natural Resources (BBKSDA) Papua Province.
Ministry of Environment and Forestry works through the Director General of Conservation of Natural Resources and Ecosystems (KSDAE) in prioritising the use METT as a device to monitor the effectiveness of protected areas management. The Indonesian government is targeting the usage of METT in 260 conservation areas in Indonesia, as well as making an efforts to increase the effectiveness of management so that conservation area could achieve a minimum score of 70 in 2019.
