Communications Director, Jakarta based

Tetra Tech ARD is currently accepting expressions of interest for the Communications Director, Jakarta based on our USAID LESTARI project. USAID’s LESTARI project supports the Government of Indonesia to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and conserve biodiversity in carbon rich and biologically significant forest and mangrove ecosystems. The project is based in Jakarta with field activities in Aceh, Central Kalimantan and Papua.

Job Summary: (1) Collaborate closely with the LESTARI senior management and landscape teams to design, implement, and manage LESTARI’s development communication agenda (including behavior change, social mobilization, and advocacy activities) that support the project’s technical objectives, enabling the project to achieve key results in the final two years of implementation. (2) Set the vision, priorities, and approaches to project communications, provides quality control (and standardization as possible) to outreach activities, events, materials and messaging, and ensures communication activities are mainstreamed into—and strategically aligned with—the project’s technical activities and work plan. (3) Train and build capacity of landscape communication and advocacy specialists to conduct effective advocacy activities with local stakeholders (communities, press, community-based organizations and NGOs, and local government officials) in line with project goals.

Requirements include previous experience in a similar position for USAID project or other international donor projects, experience in Asia/Southeast Asia preferred; minimum 8 years of experience designing, implementing, and managing complex communication/behavior change strategies, or designing and leading public relations and advocacy efforts for mission-driven organizations, advocacy groups, government agencies, or businesses in the agriculture/forest industry; has knowledge of behavior change, social mobilization, and advocacy strategies and their practical application in the environment, climate change, and conservation space highly desirable; has self-starter motivation, effective and collaborative team player; has ability to set priorities while multi-tasking, and meet deadlines with minimal supervision; experienced with training and capacity building highly desirable; familiar with USAID procedures and regulations is an advantage; willing to work and travel intensively and extensively in the field; fluency in spoken and written Indonesian and English required. University degree in related field required. Indonesian citizen or expatriate legally residing and able to work in Indonesia.
